There were also first time discoveries. Having heard for years that Richard Yates’ Revolutionary Road was one of the great but underappreciated American novels, I searched it out. I have spent the months since then pressing it into the hands of anybody who will take it, including yours. Their Eyes Were Watching God , Zora Neale Hurston’s great story of a black woman surviving whatever God and man throws at her, was not part of the required reading list when I was in school. It is now part of my personal canon. Henry Green? Hadn’t read Henry Green. Finally read Loving . Loved it.
Hey @drashna:disqus, we’re certainly only reporting which drives work for our use-case. A lot of of folks find that it mirrors what they see out in their own anecdotal set-ups as well. We’re definitely putting a lot of load on these drives in our 24/7/365 environment, so home-use and even other server-use will not necessarily lead to the same results that we see. We’ll be releasing some raw data in the coming weeks, which should be interesting to some folks that are looking for specifics. As for temperature and vibration, we have other blog posts that explain what we see in our environment -> https:///blog/hard-drive-temperature-does-it-matter/ and https:///blog/enterprise-drive-reliability/ if you’re curious. Again though, all of that is for our environment, so mileage may vary for others!
