Other significant adverse effects of testosterone supplementation include acceleration of pre-existing prostate cancer growth in individuals who have undergone androgen deprivation; increased hematocrit , which can require venipuncture in order to treat; and, exacerbation of sleep apnea . [24] Adverse effects may also include minor side-effects such as acne and oily skin, as well as, significant hair loss and/or thinning of the hair, which may be prevented with 5-alpha reductase inhibitors ordinarily used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia , such as finasteride . [25] Exogenous testosterone may also cause suppression of spermatogenesis , leading to, in some cases, infertility. [26] It is recommended that physicians screen for prostate cancer with a digital rectal exam and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level before starting therapy, and monitor PSA and hematocrit levels closely during therapy. [27]

Heavy consumption of the essential amino acid lysine (as indicated in the treatment of cold sores) has allegedly shown false positives in some and was cited by American shotputter C. J. Hunter as the reason for his positive test, though in 2004 he admitted to a federal grand jury that he had injected nandrolone. [32] A possible cause of incorrect urine test results is the presence of metabolites from other AAS, though modern urinalysis can usually determine the exact steroid used by analyzing the ratio of the two remaining nandrolone metabolites. As a result of the numerous overturned verdicts, the testing procedure was reviewed by UK Sport . On October 5, 2007, three-time Olympic gold medalist for track and field Marion Jones admitted to use of the drug, and was sentenced to six months in jail for lying to a federal grand jury in 2000. Also as I allowed myself to fall into the trap of the whole “eat big to get big” dogma, whilst doing a pathetically low volume of lifting such as that found in 3×5 programs, I do feel that others (especially very young guys who don’t know any lifters IRL) will continue to get suckered into GOMAD whilst doing routines that last no longer than 20-25 minutes and just make them hate what they see in the mirror. I know I did. I was fat, injured, still had skinny arms and didn’t lift again for years until more recent times. That was once the last of my tendonosis had cleared up, haha.

This is so confusing. I’m 5 feet tall and 120 pounds (age 42). Everytime I calcuate my TDEE with light activity (I work out 3 times a week and stay active on the weekends just doing stuff) I come up with 1317. That’s pretty low. And if I try to make a calorie deficit of 20 percent, that leaves me with only eating barely 1,000 calories a day. That’s hardly eating. And I keep hearing everywhere not to eat less than your TDEE to lose weight. I’m totally baffled. Here’s my situation. I was eating 1200 calories a day and lost 40 pounds total. I did most of my exercise through 40 minutes to 1 hour on an exercise bike 4-5 days a week. I know how to keep a diary and track everything I eat (and I eat healthy…not junk). I am now trying to lose the last 10 pounds to get me to the 110 range. I have not been able to do it at all over the past year. The biking for 30 minutes 3-4 days a week wasn’t working (my schedule too busy to do more than that now). I’ve been doing HIIT for 25-30 minutes the last 2 months…no weight loss either. I’ve checked and rechecked diet. I’ve tried eating more than 1200 after learning to not eat lower than my TDEE. No response. It’s been a year of this battle. I’m totally confused and eating 1000 calories a day doesn’t seem healthy at all. Help!!!
